Project Details:

The Storey Park Murals, designed by renowned artist James Gulliver Hancock and painted by Hancock alongside muralist Leia Sidery, offer a vivid visual narrative that celebrates the unique character of this vibrant community space in Sydney. The murals, which adorn key areas of Storey Park, were created as part of a broader initiative to bring art into public spaces that resonate with the people who live, work, and gather in the area.

Drawing inspiration from the local environment and its history, the murals embody the essence of Storey Park’s transformation into a dynamic, communal space. Hancock’s signature style of intricately detailed illustrations combined with Sidery’s nuanced execution resulted in a striking composition that blends the natural elements of the park with local cultural references.

The Art of Wall acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we work and create. In Brookvale, we pay our respects to the Gayamaygal people of the Guringai Nation, and across the greater Sydney region, we acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation and the many other First Nations communities whose Country we travel through and paint on.
We honour their ongoing connection to land, waters, culture, and storytelling—and extend our respects to Elders past and present.
